Gallery: "Out of Place" at Lake Anne

waterfront was turned into public art and a performance space Sunday with the debut of Out of Place.

The installation was presented by the , the Initiative for Public Art Reston, Friends of Lake Anne and the . It was conceived by architect Ronit Eisenbach and dance artist Sharon Mansur, who were inspired by the history of the planned community of 1960s New Town of Reston and the sculpture and architecture of Lake Anne Plaza.

The installation will be on view through May 21. Sunday's accompanying dance performance explored the ways we perceive, shape and inhabit our world.

The dance performance featured a duet featuring Mansur and longtime collaborator Daniel Burkholder.
