Olympic Watch: Moise Joseph, Reston's Runner

Haitian runner Moise Joseph has been training under SLHS' track coach Scott Raczko in Reston

Moise Joseph will wear the uniform of his native Haiti in the 2012 Summer Games in London. However, he trains right here in Reston.

Joseph, 30, is an 800-meter specialist who graduated from high school in Miami and ran for the University of Florida.

He competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens but did not advance past the preliminaries. He missed qualifying for the 2008 Games in Bejing. He moved to Northern Virginia to train with South Lakes High School track coach Scott Raczko, who coached miler Alan Webb to glory a decade ago.

His personal best in the 800 is 1:45.74. The 800 begins on Aug. 6.

The NoVa article says he ran a 1:45.87. Whatever his best time is, it is might, mighty fast. He also works at the Potomac River Running Store (or at least used to).

You are correct, charles. We must have had an old stat sheet. It has been changed.
