principal Linda Hajj announced she will retire from her 38-year career in education in June.
Hajj has been with Fairfax County Public Schools for 18 years and at Lake Anne for the last five.
“It was always my intention to be at Lake Anne for three to five years," she said on Tuesday. "I looked at the scope of my career and my family’s needs and decided 'less can be more.' I am looking forward to more time with my family, grandchildren, at Smith Mountain Lake and traveling."

Hajj said she expects the new principal will be announced before the end of the school year, allowing for adequate transition time.
“We will accomplish so much between now and the end of the year," she said. "But it will be hard to say goodbye to the students."
