Helping Say 'Bite Me' to Cancer
Fundraiser for local teen's charity Wednesday at Vapiano in Reston.
Networking for Good will host a fundraiser Wednesday to benefit Bite Me Cancer, a local non profit founded by Chantilly teen Nikki Ferraro.
The fundraiser is 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Vapiano in Reston.
Ferraro, the daughter of new Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce President C. Michael Ferraro, founded the organization in Sept. 2010 after she was diagnosed with a rare form of thyroid cancer at the age of 17.
Bite Me Cancer focuses on supporting and inspiring teens who are battling cancer. Recently the foundation began distribution support bags to help teens with cancer (bags are called "A Bit of Bite Me Cancer" and contain teen appropriate items such as iTunes card, water bottle, baseball cap and more).
The foundation is also raising money to raise awareness and assist with research for thyroid cancer, which is the fastest growing cancer in the country.
Bite Me Cancer has a goal of raising $50,000 in 2012.
Tickets to the event are $15. For more information, click here.
