Great Falls' Ziegler Makes Olympic Team

Local swimmer will swim 800 freestyle in second games.

Great Falls swimmer Kate Ziegler qualified for a return trip to the Olympic Games when she finished second in the women's 800-freestyle at the 2012 Olympic Swim Trials in Omaha on Sunday.

Ziegler, 23, who trains locally with FISH, was a 10th-place finisher in the 2008 Games in Bejing.

On Sunday, Ziegler swam an 8:27.91, finishing second to another local swimmer, Bethesda's Katie Ledecky, 15. Ledecky, who swims with Curl-Burke, swam a 8:19.78, a trials record.
