The Herndon High School ROTC Color Guard took part in the annual Herndon Memorial Day observance on May 28 at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

The American Legion Post 184, the Town of Herndon and the Herndon High School ROTC Color Guard and many area Boy Scouts spent Monday, May 28 honoring fallen soldiers with a Memorial Day observance at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Though many celebrate Memorial Day weekend with pool time, cookouts and parties, it should also be a time to remember those who served our country, said Herndon Mayor Steve DeBenedittis.

The event included remarks from DeBenedittis, American Legion Post 184 Commander David Kirby and Post Chaplain Dmytro Andriuk, as well as the laying of wreaths on the tomb of two unknown Confederate soldiers.
