Six Will Run For Reston Association Seats

Former director Chew will be unopposed for South Lakes District spot in upcoming election.

The Elections Committee says six candidates have been certified to run in the 2012 elections for Board of Directors seats.

Up for grabs are two at-large spots, as well as the South Lakes District seat.

until the end of his term in 2011, will run unopposed for the South Lakes seat. Reston Association president Kathleen Driscoll McKee has held the seat for six years,  but cannot run again due to term limits.

RA vice president Paul Thomas, an at-large director, decided not to run for a second term. 

In the at-large race, incumbent Tom Vis is running for a second three-year term.  Four more residents are running in the at-large race for the two open seats.  They are lawyer John Farrell, lawyer Donna Miller Rostant, engineer Michael R. Sanio,

Property owners and renters are eligible to vote in the election.

On March 5, ballots will be mailed to property owners and renters and online voting begins at 5 p.m.  Voters will be able to click a blue vote bar on the website at www.reston.org to vote.

 The voting period closes on Friday, March 30 at 5 p.m.  That's the deadline for all mailed ballots to be at the county agent's office and internet voting closes.

There will be a public candidates' forum on Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. At Reston Association headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive.  Elections results will be announced at the Annual Members' Meeting on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m., also held at the headquarters conference center.
