Concerns About Silver Line Linger

Costs, impact on local roads could mean traffic snafus in Reston.

A story in Sunday's Washington Post has opinions from the and advocacy group Reston2020 on the impact of the Silver Line, set to make its first stop at Wiehle Avenue in late 2013.

It's not all positive thinking.

GRCC says response to its recent survey about Metro has been "overwhelmingly positive." Reston2020's Terry Maynard, meanwhile, says one of his worries is the impact on local roads with so many more people driving to Reston to pick up the Metro.

Reston's Wiehle Station, which will be the end of the Silver Line until Phase 2 is built in 2016, is the only Silver Line station with ample parking. There will be more than 2,000 spots in the seven-story parking garage.

And, as always, the rising cost for Dulles Toll Road users remains a concern.
