Coming Soon: FLOW Blow Dry Bar

Reston will soon be home to Northern Virginia's first blow dry salon as FLOW Blow Dry & Beauty Bar plans to open at 11700 Plaza America Dr. (Suite 130) in December.

Styling-only salons are a new trend in cities such as New York and Los Angeles. Drybar recently opened its first area stores in Georgetown and Bethesda. Drybar offers a variety of styles for $40. FLOW blowouts will start at $35.

The store is the idea of Northern Virginia native Samira Atash, who spent more than 10 years as a fashion stylist in New York. She says FLOW stands for Flowing Locks of Winsomeness.

“I grew up in Northern Virginia, so I’m pretty familiar with this area and demographics," Atash said in a press release. "I have lived in NYC for 10 years and have recently come back to the area to raise my daughter. Last year, I was invited to an event in D.C., but had no time to style my own hair. I searched the area looking for a salon for just a blow-out and style.

"Either they were too expensive, booked, or I didn’t feel that they could style my hair well. So that’s when the light bulb went off in my head – why doesn’t Northern Virginia have a blow dry bar?"

The salon says they offer "eco friendly blowouts," as well as organic makeup and threading (hair removal).
