Closed: California Tortilla

Northpoint restaurant is shuttered.

California Tortilla at Northpoint has closed up shop.

That makes the second fast-casual Mexican place to leave in the last week. Baja Fresh at Plaza America also closed June 30.

Does that put a damper on your burrito plans?

Meanwhile, Chipotle is still set to open a branch at South Lakes Village Center. No opening date has been set.

Although we had been frequenting this place since it opened, we were doing so less and less often. Whenever I would go in, there would be 1 or 2 other customers at the most. I'm not sure what it was - are things just tough all over, or had the novelty worn off? I did enjoy the 80s music that was always playing.

I definitely like the food at Chipotle better though, it just seems fresher and higher quality.

RIP Cal Tort North Point

Frankly, I wasn't keen on the new menu which started around 2010, which seemed blander and less imaginative than the old one. I especially miss the Thai Chicken Burrito!

Ok Wow thanks patch! What is going on between Baja at Plaza and now Cali Tort closing! I really am going to miss that Baja Fresh-where else is there one in Reston!! Too bad for Cal Tort!

Not a Chipotle fan... the different meats taste almost indistinguishable from each other, portions are too big, and you can't even order dessert!
Baja Fresh was far better and will be sorely missed.

I like Chipotle and excited that they are coming to South Lakes Village Center. I'm not surprised that they closed California Tortilla. In fact, I'm surprised that they lasted this long. They consistently made mistakes on my order and I never got friendly service when I was there. All I have to say is GOOD RIDDANCE!

I would love to see Cafe Rio move into that location.

King Kong may have died for somebody's sins, but not mine. Same goes for Jesus.
