Anne Holton Campaigns for Kaine in Reston

Wife of US Senate candidate Tim Kaine visits Northern Virginia Communty College's Reston Center.

Anne Holton, wife of US Senate candidate Tim Kaine (D), spent time at the Reston Center of Northern Virginia Community College on Wednesday as part of her statewide tour of colleges and community colleges.

At the Reston Center, Holton shared Kaine’s strategies to improve Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum, workforce training, and career and technical education.

She also emphasized Kaine’s commitment to investing in education from Pre-K to higher education and workforce development.

“Tim served as governor during the worst recession in 70 years, and he had to make some difficult choices to keep our budget balanced,” Holton said.  “But while he cut more than $5 billion in spending - including cuts to his own salary-  he still managed to make investments in key areas like Pre-K, higher education, and career and technical education. As our next Senator, I am confident Tim will break through the Washington gridlock to increase and improve educational opportunities for all Virginians.”

Kaine is running against former US Senator and Virginia Governor George Allen (R). Allen campaigned in Reston on Sept. 22.

Previous stops on Holton's college tour across Virginia include visits to Tidewater Community College (Virginia Beach Campus), Norfolk State University, George Mason University, Northern Virginia Community College (Woodbridge Campus), Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Northern Virginia Community College (Annandale Campus), Rappahannock Community College, Paul D. Camp Community College, John Tyler Community College, the College of William and Mary, Richard Bland College, Virginia Western Community College, Virginia State University, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (Parham Campus), Thomas Nelson Community College and Christopher Newport University.

Holton also met with voters at Cox Farms Fall Festival in Centreville on Wednesday.
