A Display of Bras for a Good Cause
Greater Reston Arts Center to host Cups Full of Hope to support young women with breast cancer.
The Greater Reston Arts Center, usually home to sculpture, paintings and other mainstream works, will be full of bras on Oct. 5.
That's when the group Success in the City will host its second annual Cups Full of Hope event at the gallery. Cups Full of Hope is an exhibition and fundraiser to support young women with breast cancer.
The event will bring together breast cancer survivors and supporters, local celebrities and benefactors at GRACE. This year's honorary co-chair is Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D-FL), a breast cancer survivor.
More than 100 people designed and donated bras last year, and the public is invited to do so again. The bras will be sold via silent acution that will benefit the Tigerlily Foundation, an area cancer support organization.
Want to create and donate a bra? The deadline for submission is Sept. 30. All bra entries must be a new, padded, 36C bra with underwire and straps fully extended as a design base. Guest judges will choose first, second and third-place prize winners, and there will also be a People's Choice poll. The fee for donating is $25.

“Last year's bra art design submissions flooded in to our offices from across the metropolitan region and each reflected the creativity, imagination, sorrow, loss, joy, and hope for one day finding a cure for breast cancer," said Cynthia de Lorenzi, Founder/CEO of Success in the City. "We were touched by the stories that accompanied each of the design submission and can only begin to imagine what beautiful and thought-provoking works of art that will be on display this year.”
Ticket for the event are available for $50 for Success in the City members and $75 for non-members. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Tigerlily Foundation.
