The Reston Community Orchestra Joins Reston’s Thanksgiving Food Drive
The RCO season starts on Nov. 20 with its opening concert, Mood Music.
The Orchestra, now in its 24th year, hasn't forgotten that the "C" in RCO stands for Community, and is using the concert as an opportunity to share more than just music. This season, the RCO joins the Reston Community Center in supporting the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith Food Drive. Orchestra members will be collecting non-perishable items for donation at the concert, and invite their audience to do the same.
Mood Music launches a season dedicated to highlighting the talent within the orchestra itself. Kurt Usowski, principal cellist for RCO will perform Bruch’s Kol Nidrei and Faure's Elegie for Cello and Orchestra. The RCOString Quartet will also be featured in Elgar's Introduction and Allegro.
The concert is at 4:00 p.m. at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods. Admission is free.
