South Lakes Swimming Finishes Season Strong

The South Lakes Swim and Dive team ended its regular season on Friday night with across-the-board wins against Marshall High School at Spring Hill Rec Center.

The boys team won 160.5 to 148.5, and the girls team posted their most decisive win yet with a 201.5 to 113.5 overall.

Several swimmers posted personal bests in the win, and senior diver Jake Andrich acheived a season high 205 points overall, earning him a spot at Regionals. Dive team coach Liz Badley was thrilled with the result, indicating that a score of 200 or higher automatically qualifies a diver for the Regional meet.

Swimmers Sasha Avilov and Mac Sogandares both earned Regionals cuts with their swims. Avilov, a junior, qualified in the 50 Free with a 25.42, and Sogandares posted a 1:02.36 in the 100 Breast, making his first Regionals cut as a sophomore. They join sophomores Sabrina Groves, who has already made Regionals in the 100 Breast, 200 IM, and States in the 100 Fly, and Natalie Obando, who previously made a State cut in the 100 Backstroke.
